- Denzil (Denny) Ferguson | VHR
Board Members < Back < Back Denzil (Denny) Ferguson President/Treasurer Denny was born, raised and schooled in rural Renfrew. Following a most enjoyable time at Renfrew Collegiate Institute – where he played a wide variety of sports – he joined the RCMP in 1961. Posted to Regina for basic training and then to Cape Breton Island for policing experience, Denny was transferred back to Ottawa and the Security Service. He earned his Business Administration Diploma at Algonquin College while working throughout Canada. Denny moved to Pakenham and into beef farming and continued policing, working in the Federal Public Service and the Private Sector until retirement in 2012. He has had the pleasure of serving the residents of Pakenham and Mississippi Mills for more than 20 years as a municipal councillor. Denny was a founding partner (retired) of 5 Span Feed and Seed – Pakenham. He has been married for more than 50 years to his Calabogie Sweetheart Margie, and they have four children. Denny has served on the station’s Board of Directors for more than a decade, and has been president since 2012. - Pat Watters
8f1007c1-b53b-4fd6-b389-c780120bc87a OUR DJs < Back Pat Watters Pat Watters was born in Bourlamaque Quebec. He has “been around” living in Val’Dor, Malartic, Barview, Malartic Gold Fields, Cornwall, Carp, Toronto, Fort McPherson NWT, Pembroke and in Douglas where he now resides. He graduated from York University and taught for 30 years finishing his career at St. Joseph High School in Renfrew. He is married, has six children and three grandchildren. He enjoys all types of music. He does however, have a preference for the blues. It was while living in Toronto that he developed a keen interest in the blues playing in bands and taking in as many live shows as he was able to. He had the opportunity to see several blues legends as they toured through southern Ontario. Pat plays bass guitar for a local hobby band called Mixed Nuts, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger Toronto Maple Leafs fan in the Valley. Got the Blues Pat has been a part of Valley Heritage radio since the beginning. His show Got the Blues began a month after the station went on the air and continues every Thursday evening at eight o’clock right after the bingo. Got the Blues is a two-hour weekly show which provides you the opportunity to listen and enjoy the blues. If you want to be more informed and exposed to this genre of music so that you can appreciate the blues, then this is the place to be! Blues has been portrayed as mournful and slow but as you listen to Got the Blues you will discover it is far more energetic and it rocks. It has been said, “The blues had a baby and they named it Rock ‘n Roll”! There are plenty of blues styles and you will hear a great variety on Pat’s show. Traditional to contemporary artists are played regularly and Got the Blues is proud to feature many of our Canadian Blues artists. Previous Next

- Art Jamieson
a82023a4-1b2e-4ced-afcf-9377e27adef4 OUR DJs < Back Art Jamieson Known to many as “Mr. Ottawa Valley,” Art is not a full-time host at Valley Heritage Radio, but he is the man behind the microphone for each of our on-air fundraisers. He is the first person we call when we’re holding a Radiothon, and we work out calendar around his availability – because he’s just that good! Through the years, Art has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for worthwhile causes across the Valley, including many here at VHR. He gets the phones ringing and has a way of connecting to the people of the Ottawa Valley like no one else. An educator most of his professional life, Art has also been a municipal politician and a travel agent who whisks people from the Valley to all corners of the globe. For almost four decades he has been the MC at the Pembroke Old Time Fiddle and Step Dance competitions, and for as long as anyone can remember, he’s entertained people with his musical abilities and his sense of humour. When he’s not helping others, he and his wife Dot love to spend time with their kids and grandkids in the bustling metropolis of Beachburg. Previous Next
