The Ottawa Valley has a rich history of athletes and athletics - from hockey and football to basketball - but some sports and athletes are simply forgotten. The Bromley Historical Society and the Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives are pleased to welcome Andrew Holman, Professor of History at Bridgewater State University, Massachusetts, to speak about Arnprior athlete, Frank Grace on Saturday, September 30 at 2pm in the Barr Line Community Centre, 1766 Barr Line, Douglas. Born and raised in late 19th-century Arnprior, in the early 20th century, Frank Grace’s talents as a lacrosse player and coach allowed him to travel the world. Drawing upon Grace’s detailed diary/scrapbook, Professor Holman will speak about Grace’s proud Irish Ottawa Valley roots and his tours of the far reaches of the British Empire as a member of Team Canada and, later, as a coach at…
