- Michelle McKibbon
db0e2c8e-4e3d-46a5-94b8-8b0b8c86a5ea OUR DJs < Back Michelle McKibbon Although Michelle lived in Toronto most of her life, after spending every summer in the Ottawa Valley, she says she feels like she was raised in The Valley. The area has always had a special place in her heart and knew someday she wanted to live here. She grew up with country music, loves pop and rock, and studied jazz in college. Most of her career has been spent working in the music industry – from music retail, to record labels, to songwriting. And immediately she recognized what a unique and special place Valley Heritage Radio is! After volunteering for three years in an administrative capacity, she traded paperwork for pushing buttons when they offered her a chance to spin all the music she loves – and now you can hear her each weekday as your afternoon drive host! When she’s not at the station, she spends her time writing and recording songs with a variety of people. In fact, her band The Paper Chain Gang has had placements in Better Call Saul, Riverdale and Gotham. In the springtime you’ll find Michelle and her family in the garden, summer by the lake, and in the fall they rake an awful lot of leaves. Program Afternoon Drive You can listen to Michelle McKibbon Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 6 p.m. as she takes you on a ride through a wide variety of music as host of The Afternoon Drive. Michelle will not only spin an eclectic mix of music genres, but she’ll also share an hour of “your” music with her all-request hour every day at 3 o’clock. You’ll also hear interviews, fun facts and stories throughout your weekday afternoons. With everything from big band to rock and roll, you’ll get your fill from the 40s through the 60s on The Afternoon Drive, but you’ll also hear 70s, 80s and more including folk and country music. If there’s a type of music you enjoy, Michelle will probably have it – and play it for you. Previous Next

- Got the Blues
Pat Watters < Back Got the Blues Pat Watters Thursday 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Pat has been a part of Valley Heritage radio since the beginning. His show Got the Blues began a month after the station went on the air and continues every Thursday evening at eight o’clock right after the bingo. Got the Blues is a two-hour weekly show which provides you the opportunity to listen and enjoy the blues. If you want to be more informed and exposed to this genre of music so that you can appreciate the blues, then this is the place to be! Blues has been portrayed as mournful and slow but as you listen to Got the Blues you will discover it is far more energetic and it rocks. It has been said, “The blues had a baby and they named it Rock ‘n Roll”! There are plenty of blues styles and you will hear a great variety on Pat’s show. Traditional to contemporary artists are played regularly and Got the Blues is proud to feature many of our Canadian Blues artists. Previous Next
- Lesley Galbraith
4fd5fa86-7131-43f5-9455-de535f0be634 OUR DJs < Back Lesley Galbraith G’day! Here is a little bit about me. I was born in England. Leicester, to be exact. I raised on the west coast of Canada. Then moved to Ottawa. And moved to Florida. Then to Las Vegas. And finally back home where I belong in Canada. I have a wonderful teenage son, three cats and seven dogs. Yes, seven dogs! I come from a very theatrical family, and it’s only fitting that my career took me to the live stage. I worked for a repertory theater in Daytona Beach, Florida for 10 years and with the cast and crew of hotel shows in Vegas. But something was missing. So I came home and I am so very lucky to be doing what I love here at Valley Heritage Radio. I was the first “employee” hired at the station back in 2006. Right now – as program and production manager – I write and produce the commercials for the station, but a big part of my job is making sure that all the programming that you hear on 98.7, comes off without a hitch. So, when you’re listening to the station and hear a commercial or jingle on the radio, well, that’s probably me! Thanks for listening. Program Super Saturday 60's, 70's & 80's Show Every Saturday night from 7 to 10 p.m., join me, Lesley Galbraith, as I take you back in time to the 70s and beyond. We’ll explore the decades that saw the rise of disco, progressive rock, pop country, new wave, pop rock, soft rock and much more, with some interesting facts thrown in for good measure. Yesterday Today Old Time Radio From the 30s to the 50s, one of the dominant forms of mass media and entertainment was radio shows including Drama, Comedy, Mystery and Horror, all presented in a purely audio format. Yesterday Today Old Time Radio is proud to bring you these shows each and every Wednesday night from 8 to 10 p.m. So, sit back, relax and grab your favourite beverage and join me, Lesley Galbraith as we travel back in time together. - Mike Cloutier
c613d348-05ae-4e43-bdca-97823c62d2ec OUR DJs < Back Mike Cloutier With more than 4,400 hours on the air – and at least that in volunteer hours around the station – Mike Cloutier has been part of the fabric of Valley Heritage Radio even before the station went live for the first time. No stranger to being in front of the microphone as a DJ, Mike is also a musician and performer who played a number of venues around the Valley for many years. Mike was dealing with health issues in 2004 and stepped back from playing regularly, but he certainly kept busy. He coordinated the entertainment for Renfrew’s Lumber Baron Festival for many years, as well as the Heart Institute’s Catch The Beat telethon. Mike first hit the airwaves in May of 2007 – and he hasn’t looked back. He currently hosts Valley Saturday Night, the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame Show and the very popular Kitchen Party Live. And there isn’t a show on the air that he hasn’t either done – or helped train the host to learn the ropes. Mike can be found at most of our events, and is usually the first one there to set up – and the last one to leave. When he’s not at the station, he spends his free time with his wife Nancy (aka The Saturday Night Widow) at their Renfrew home. Programs Valley Saturday Night Host Mike Cloutier loves to hear from our listeners, and that’s exactly what drives his Valley Saturday Night program – listener requests. Almost every song each week is chosen by listeners from across the Ottawa Valley, and beyond, as they call in their favourite tunes – and Mike is the man to find them and play them. So if you have a song you’d like to hear, then give Mike a call on Saturday nights between 4 and 7, and you’ll likely get your wish. The show has also grown to include guest appearances from Mike’s wife Nancy (aka The Saturday Night Widow). Kitchen Party Live One of the most unique shows at the station, Kitchen Party Live is just that – a kitchen party that takes place live on the Thomas Cavanagh Stage each Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. Since January 30th of 2010, there have been more than 140 live shows at the station that are broadcast on the air from our stage. Mike Cloutier hosts Kitchen Party Live and is booking bands months in advance for a chance to be part of this unique experience. Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame Show If you love Ottawa Valley music, then make sure to tune in every Thursday night from 6 to 7 p.m. to a program dedicated to some of the region’s top musicians. The Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame Show is exactly that – a show dedicated solely to members of the HOF. Join your host Mike Cloutier to hear some wonderful music, and the stories to go with the songs and tunes. We’re proud to promote and share the music the great Ottawa Valley musicians have to offer. A Little Bit More Everyone wants a little bit more and every Wednesday night at 7 p.m., guest hosts bring you an in depth look and an artist or band from country to rock to disco to easy listening to 50s and 60s rock and roll and more. It’s a great show – not to be missed. Previous Next
- Marion Eidsness
80ba17a2-e523-4378-8c32-9f416ce43910 OUR DJs < Back Marion Eidsness Marion Eidsness is the host of the “Seniors in our Communities” program that is on air each week at Valley Heritage Radio, 98.7 FM. It is aired Tuesday during the noon hour. Marion draws on her experience of working in the senior service sector and managing volunteers in community agencies both in Saskatchewan and Ontario to come up with the ideas for this show. Marion and her husband moved to Renfrew in 2011 to be closer to their two sons and their families who live in Ottawa. A weekly visit with their grandchildren is a highlight. One of the benefits of working on this program, Marion says, is the knowledge she gains personally and the great people she meets that offer community support services throughout Renfrew County. - Susan Sarsfield
Administration Assistant < Back Susan Sarsfield Administration Assistant Hello! I was born and raised in Renfrew and though I moved to Kingston & Ottawa in my twenties for college and work, I always knew my heart belonged in the Ottawa Valley with my family and friends. I convinced my husband John that moving to Renfrew would be an adventure (he was a city boy), we have now lived here for 22 years and have three wonderful children; our oldest is Matthew, and then we were blessed with our twins Aaron and Morgan. With three kids, our life has never been dull or quiet; We’ve enjoyed many years as hockey and baseball parents to both the boys and soccer parents to our daughter; our home is definitely a central hub for all things chaotic. My husband and kids would tell you that it does not matter where I go, that I will see someone that I know, be it a hockey tournament in Peterborough or a beach resort in Cuba… I have over 20 years of experience working in administration, customer service, client services, events/promotion; I genuinely enjoy meeting new people and hearing their stories.
