  • Kathleen Rogers

Reception < Back Kathleen Rogers Reception I am a Valley girl, born and raised in Renfrew. I left the area in 1989 when my husband Rick and I moved to an even smaller town: Moosonee. We then re-located to Sutton West, Ontario, before my hubby accepted a job with the Renfrew Paramedic Service. We were truly back home! We have been happily married for 34 years and have raised two beautiful daughters – Bailey and Taylor. We moved home 25 years ago and have been loving life in our true home ever since. Our family has grown to include two beautiful grandsons who keep us entertained and very busy. I come from a large family and know many people throughout the Valley. I consider myself a “people person” and love meeting and chatting with listeners every day at the radio station. I love dogs, cats and birds, country music, sports and food. I also love my job here at VHR and am proud to be part of the Valley Heritage Radio family.   Contact reception@valleyheritageradio.ca Previous Next

  • Carole Mooney | VHR

Board Members < Back < Back Carole Mooney Director Carole joined the VHR Board of Directors in 2017, because she cares about the Ottawa Valley and is a fan of country music, especially local artists. Carole and her husband Darrell, who is a member of the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame with the Countrymen, can often be found at live music events around the region. And not too often is there a dance in the Valley, where you won’t find them singing along or spending the afternoon on the dance floor. So it’s natural that Carole wanted to do her part to help keep traditional Valley and country music alive and thriving. That’s why she has joined the Board of Directors. So she can make a difference.

  • Brian Hebert | VHR

Board Members < Back < Back Brian Hebert Director There are many wonderful fiddlers in and around the Ottawa Valley but few, if any, whose careers are built not only on their playing skills, but also on their mentoring abilities. Brian is one of the best of the latter group. Born in the heart of the Ottawa Valley in 1954, Brian saw and heard Canadian fiddle legend, Ward Allen, in 1962 and was hooked on the fiddle. For 20 years, he played shows and dances all over the Valley with his band, Colt, and during that time, also appeared with Mac Beattie on various radio and television shows. Brian’s "day job" is teaching and, with his education degree and a Music Education Certificate, he has brought the study of fiddle into his high school classrooms, establishing a credit course in Canadian fiddle. He has also taught at fiddle camps and been a judge at fiddle contests. Brian has mentored and coached many young fiddlers and is a tireless ambassador for the fiddle. Among his many achievements is his involvement in the creation of the Pembroke annual fiddle and stepdance competition. Brian was honoured by the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championships organization for his contributions towards the growth and development of Canadian fiddling. Brian has three recordings to his credit and has published a book of his compositions entitled, "New Generation Fiddle Melodies.” Brian was inducted into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame in 2009.

  • L'il Mama Live

L'il Mama < Back L'il Mama Live L'il Mama Monday 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm Music should really make you feel. When I listen to something, I want to feel what the artist(s) is feeling. Same as when I perform, I want the crowd to feel what I am feeling. Shivers and goosebumps are a good indication of a performance well done. A bob of the head or a tap of the foot is a good sign too. That’s the feeling I’m creating in the studio. A heavy, groovy vibe transmitting from 98.7 FM radio into your space. If you can dig it, come along for a ride with me, Lil’ Mama on my new radio show, Lil’ Mama Live, Monday nights from 8-10pm on Valley Heritage Radio, 98.7 FM. Previous Next
