His first experience in radio was hosting a weekly show on CRSC (Canadian Radio Seneca College). The Coyote is a guitarist, amateur singer/ songwriter and a passionate music fan. Despite being a full-time introvert, he has dabbled in theater and performed in several musicals such as “Paint Your Wagon” and “Annie Get Your Gun,” often as the comic lead. As a professional speaker his career has taken him around the globe and, despite an eight-year side trip to Alberta, he has always made his way back to the Ottawa Valley. He resides in the White Lake area and records at the Iron Raven Ranch studio. Coyote Slim hosts the Common Thread Show – a weekly show based on central themes where he endeavors to help listeners “watch” the radio by selecting music that “conjures up images in the mind.” He encourages audience participation and asks listeners to reach him via his e-mail address coyoteslim@valleyheritageradio.ca . His passion and knowledge of the game at the local and pro level has translated into an entertaining and informative program each Wednesday afternoon through the hockey season. Geoff’s knack of finding interesting guests has helped to grow an audience of Ottawa Valley hockey fans who want to learn more about hockey from the grassroots level to the NHL and beyond. For close to three decades, Geoff has been connected to the Pembroke Lumber Kings Jr A hockey club, wearing many hats including PA announcer at the PMC, trainer, community relations and marketing director, assistant coach and assistant GM. And he is now the Voice of the Lumber Kings on all TV and radio broadcasts. You’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger Philadelphia Flyers on the planet, and the station expects to have Geoff on the airwaves until a job opens up for a radio voice in Philly. Geoff and his wife Laurie call the Cobden area home. Program Rink Wrap Tune in each Wednesday during the hockey season at 5 p.m. for Rink Wrap, the station’s hockey talk show. Host Geoff Patterson will bring you up to speed on everything happening on rinks around the Ottawa Valley and beyond. With Geoff’s connections in the hockey world, you’ll never know who he’ll be chatting with. He has “been around” living in Val’Dor, Malartic, Barview, Malartic Gold Fields, Cornwall, Carp, Toronto, Fort McPherson NWT, Pembroke and in Douglas where he now resides. He graduated from York University and taught for 30 years finishing his career at St. Joseph High School in Renfrew. He is married, has six children and three grandchildren. He enjoys all types of music. He does however, have a preference for the blues. It was while living in Toronto that he developed a keen interest in the blues playing in bands and taking in as many live shows as he was able to. He had the opportunity to see several blues legends as they toured through southern Ontario. Pat plays bass guitar for a local hobby band called Mixed Nuts, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a bigger Toronto Maple Leafs fan in the Valley. Got the Blues Pat has been a part of Valley Heritage radio since the beginning. His show Got the Blues began a month after the station went on the air and continues every Thursday evening at eight o’clock right after the bingo. Got the Blues is a two-hour weekly show which provides you the opportunity to listen and enjoy the blues. If you want to be more informed and exposed to this genre of music so that you can appreciate the blues, then this is the place to be! Blues has been portrayed as mournful and slow but as you listen to Got the Blues you will discover it is far more energetic and it rocks. It has been said, “The blues had a baby and they named it Rock ‘n Roll”! There are plenty of blues styles and you will hear a great variety on Pat’s show.
